Mastering the Search Engines is a dynamic challenge, always changing and refining, Who you decide to list with is highly dependent on the customer and his/her budget. By far the best value for a commercial site is the Yahoo Business Express at $299/year. For a .net or .org, it may be MSN or Google --- You decide after studying the links and researching the engines. This is probably the most "fluid" - moving target activity that a developer/ designer will face. We highly recommend that you do a study on competitive sites before expending a customers resources. Find out where they are listed and why. Yahoo "Business Express" Submission allots you 200 characters to state "why and where" a site should be listed. Recommend the same category as a successful competitors URL! Other search engine tips include doing a complete keyword analysis before submission. Your keywords should match the description meta-tag as well as possible. Do not use any keyword in the description more than 3 times. Also, make sure that your page utilizes each keyword between 3 and 8 times, no more, no less. There are many more search engine tips in the links below

Search/Submit - (provided by ineedhits.com) Price: First URL $39,
each additional URL (up to 1000) $25 each Effectively marketing a website is ever bit as important as the effort you put into design, if not more. It's one thing to print an effective brochure and another to deliver it to a targeted audience. You can do all kinds of things to get "hits", but, do they translate into business or otherwise achieve your customer's goals;s? If you have not addressed a "Marketing Cost" in the initial Web Development Estimate for yourself or your customer you are either in the "cold" with your brochure "stuck in the closet" or you, or your customer are faced with unexpected costs. Those are the only options for a commercial Site these days! We hope you quoted a 30 - 40% marketing cost into the original estimate, if not, you are setting in an uncomfortable chair right now! You can list all day long with the secondary engines and not get far, that is with the exception of an "Exchange" (NASDAQ, NYSE, CBOE etc..) listed or otherwise prominent customer. Not only that, but a well targeted marketing plan is going to be different for every type of site and site extension (.com, .net, .org, .biz, .name etc..). Yahoo will list noncommercial sites for free but, have you set up different meta-tags for each page? If you haven't integrated a marketing plan from concept, we advise going back through this page. This may sound harsh and overly direct, but that is the reality! If you need help planning a Marketing Strategy contact Mountain Eagle Marketing. More About Search Engines and Submission.
